The long-range glassing standard for Coues deer and open-country mule deer. Best used tripod-mounted, where a wide field of view keeps 14x usable far longer than the number suggests.

Both-eyes-open glassing at 35x with maximum light gathering — the setup serious Coues and sheep hunters use to judge animals at distances where a single eyepiece becomes exhausting. Needs a sturdy tripod.

Image-stabilized 16x, handheld. The rental that surprises people most — stabilization changes what “handheld magnification” means.
Premium glass is a four-figure decision, and no amount of showroom time tells you what a binocular does at last light on a Sonoran hillside. Ross Outdoors rents Swarovski and SIG optics from our downtown Phoenix shop so you can put them to work on real country before you commit — and apply the rental cost toward the purchase if you decide to keep them.
Why rent optics before you buy
Specs on a page won't tell you whether 14x is too much magnification for the way you hunt, or whether your neck will tolerate a 52mm binocular on day four. A rental answers questions a store visit can't:
- Magnification you'll actually live with. 12x, 14x and 16x all read fine on paper. On a tripod at 700 yards they behave very differently.
- Weight over a full day. The difference between a 42mm and a 52mm binocular is negligible in your hands and significant on your chest on day four.
- Low-light performance in your terrain. Desert dusk and dark timber are not the same test.
- Whether a spotter earns its place in your pack. Some hunters glass up everything with binoculars on a tripod. Others need the BTX. Renting settles it.
How our optics rentals work
- Choose your optic and dates from the listings above.
- Book at least 10 days before pickup. Rentals move fast around draw results and season openers — reserve early.
- Pay in full to reserve. Full payment is required up front to hold your dates.
- Pick up at our downtown Phoenix shop. Monday through Saturday. No Sunday pickup or drop-off.
- Take it hunting. Four-day minimum rental.
- Return it and decide. If you buy, we apply your rental cost toward the purchase — up to two separate rentals can be credited toward one purchase.
What's included, and what costs extra
Every rental comes ready to hunt with the optic itself. A tripod is not included — and for the NL Pure 14x52 and the BTX 95 in particular, you want one. We rent tripods as a flat $40 add-on for the length of your rental, not a per-day charge.
Matching the optic to your Arizona hunt
Coues whitetail
Arizona's signature glassing hunt, and the most demanding optical test in the state. Grey deer, grey brush, long distances, and animals that don't move much. High-magnification tripod-mounted binoculars — the NL Pure 14x52 is the benchmark — plus a spotter to judge before you commit to a stalk. If you're going to rent for one hunt, rent for this one.
Desert mule deer
Big open basins and long glassing sessions. 12x on a tripod covers most of it, and the EL Range TA earns its keep when you're ranging across canyons that lie about their width.
Elk
Timber edges and burns at first and last light. Low-light performance and a wide field of view matter more here than raw magnification.
Sheep and long-range judging
Where the BTX pays for itself. Extended sessions of detailed judging are far less fatiguing with both eyes open.
Pickup and drop-off in downtown Phoenix
All optics rentals are picked up and returned in person at our downtown Phoenix shop. We're minutes from the I-10/I-17 interchange and an easy stop for hunters routing through Phoenix on the way to a unit — and a short drive from Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Glendale and Chandler.

Optics rental FAQ
How much does it cost to rent binoculars in Phoenix?
Rentals start at $40 per day with a four-day minimum, so $160 is the entry point. Swarovski binoculars start at $60/day ($240 for four days, $350/week), and the BTX 95 spotting scope combo is $70/day ($280 for four days, $450/week).
Can I apply the rental cost toward buying the optic?
Yes. Rental fees can be credited toward a purchase, and up to two separate rentals can be applied to a single purchase.
How far in advance do I need to book an optics rental?
At least 10 days before your pickup date. Book earlier for popular hunt periods — availability tightens sharply once draw results are out.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Yes, four days.
Is a tripod included with the rental?
No. A tripod is an optional add-on at a flat $40 for the length of your rental, regardless of how many days you keep it. We recommend one for any high-magnification binocular and require one in practice for the BTX 95.
Do I have to pay up front?
Yes. Full payment is required at the time of booking to reserve your dates.
Can I rent optics on a Sunday?
No. There are no pickups or drop-offs on Sundays, so plan your rental dates accordingly.
What's your cancellation policy on optics rentals?
Cancel 5 or more days before pickup for a 50% refund. Cancellations within 5 days of pickup are non-refundable, as are no-shows and early returns.
